Türkiye Welcomes Over 12 Million Visitors in Early 2025: A Strong Start to the Tourism Season

Turkey has made an impressive entry into the 2025 tourism season, hosting a total of 12,744,084 visitors in the first four months of the year, according to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Among them, 10.59 million were foreign tourists, while 2.15 million were Turkish citizens residing abroad.




Germany Leads in Tourist Numbers

Germany topped the list of countries sending the most visitors to Turkey, with 1,143,107 arrivals. It was followed by Russia (977,152 visitors) and Iran (946,472 visitors). Bulgaria and the United Kingdom also made it into the top five, highlighting the continued popularity of Turkey among European travelers.

April Sets a New Record

April 2025 saw particularly strong performance, with 3.9 million foreign tourists visiting Turkey — an 8% increase compared to the same month last year. Visitor numbers from Germany rose sharply by 31%, reaching 571,042. The number of tourists from the UK also grew by 13%, totaling 373,922. Russia, Bulgaria, and Iran remained among the top contributors.

A Promising Season Ahead

Experts highlight that Turkey has kicked off the 2025 tourism season on a high note. With its favorable climate, well-developed infrastructure, and rich cultural and natural attractions, the country continues to be a top choice for travelers from around the globe. If this momentum continues, 2025 could be a record-breaking year for Turkish tourism.
