Changes in Electricity Pricing from 01.02.2025
Effective from February 1, 2025, the subsidized tariff for high consumption users will be abolished. Transitioning to the "Last Resort Supply" tariff will result in a 60% increase in electricity costs.
You are likely familiar with the commotion that arose earlier this year regarding changes in electricity billing. Now, it’s time to clarify everything and address any remaining questions.
New electricity billing rules in Turkey take effect on February 1, 2025:
- Abolition of the subsidized tariff for high-consumption users.
- If annual electricity consumption exceeds:
- 5000 kWh for households,
- 15,000 kWh for commercial and industrial consumers.
In this case, consumers will be switched to the "Last Resort Supply" tariff ("Son Kaynak Tedarik Tarifesi"), and their bills will be calculated at market prices, with no government subsidies. This will result in a 60% increase in costs.
