In Turkey, Bridges, Highways and Public Transport Will Be Free During Eid al-Adha

During Eid al-Adha, the Turkish government traditionally offers free access to major transport infrastructure to ease travel and reduce congestion across the country.

Official holiday dates: June 6–9, 2025
Free travel period: From midnight on June 5 until 07:00 on June 13

Free Bridges and Highways

Free access will apply to:
All roads and bridges managed by the Turkish General Directorate of Highways (KGM)
The 15 July Martyrs Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul

Note: Roads and bridges operated under the PPP model (such as Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Izmir–Istanbul highway, and Eurasia Tunnel) will remain tolled.

Free Public Transport

From June 6 to June 9, the following public transport services will be free for all passengers:

Marmaray (Istanbul);
BaşkentRay (Ankara);
İZBAN (Izmir);
Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport – Arnavutköy metro line;
Municipal buses, metros, trams and ferries in major cities.

Important Notes
Heavy traffic and long queues may occur during the holiday period.
Free travel is a great opportunity for family trips and visiting relatives.
It’s advisable to plan journeys in advance, especially for intercity travel.
