What you need to know about emergency medical services in Türkiye
Dear subscribers, please note the following important points regarding the 112 emergency service.
— When 112 is called, the patient is taken to the nearest hospital, regardless of whether it is private or public. This rule is established in the official regulations.
— If you wish to avoid additional expenses, inform the paramedic in advance that you prefer to be taken to a public hospital.
If you are taken to a private hospital:
— In emergency situations (Red Zone — KIZIL ALAN), treatment is provided free of charge.
— Once your condition is stabilized, all further treatment and procedures are provided on a paid basis. The medical staff must inform you about this and obtain your consent.
— If you refuse paid treatment but are unable to leave the clinic on your own, the hospital, together with 112, is obliged to arrange your transfer to a public hospital.
