Entry Ban to Turkey

Violation of Stay Duration → Entry Ban from 1 Month to 5 Years No ban if the violation is ≤ 3 months, the departure is voluntary, and the fine has been paid. A ban applies if the violation exceeds 3 months (the duration of the ban depends on the length of the overstay). A 3–5 year ban for failure to pay the fine, delayed departure, or deportation. ⚠ Re-entry is only allowed after the fine has been settled.




Entry Ban to Turkey

Foreigners who exceed their permitted stay (visa, residence permit, work permit) may face an entry ban under Law No. 6458.

When is an entry ban NOT applied?

  • Overstay is less than 3 months
  • Departure is voluntary before authorities detect the violation
  • The overstay fine is paid in accordance with Law No. 492

Entry Ban Periods (from 1 month to 5 years)

If the overstay exceeds 3 months, an entry ban applies even if the fine is paid and departure is voluntary:

  • 3–6 months → 1-month ban
  • 6 months – 1 year → 3-month ban
  • 1–2 years → 1-year ban
  • 2–3 years → 2-year ban
  • More than 3 years → 5-year ban

Severe Violations: 3–5 Year Entry Ban

Even if the fine is paid, an entry ban of 3 to 5 years applies in cases of:

  • Unpaid fines at departure
  • Failure to leave Turkey after a rejected residence/work permit
  • Deportation

Violation Duration & Corresponding Ban

  • Up to 3 months → 3-month ban
  • 3–6 months → 6-month ban
  • 6 months – 1 year → 1-year ban
  • 1–2 years → 2-year ban
  • More than 2 years → 5-year ban

Important: Even after the ban expires, entry to Turkey is not allowed unless all fines and outstanding debts are fully paid.
